RIO shouldn't be the main concern. Flat out being smoked should be. What are you hoping the PFR has...QJ [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]?

i agree that that mindset is overused (though not as much lately).

for this hand, i say we either go hard with TPGK and 3bet and hope to force some 1-pair/gutshot/combo draws to fold, or we think we're behind and we fold. calling accomplishes very little (it keeps us in the pot when we have a decent hand, but are we drawing? are we waiting for a safe card? are we re-evaluating based on the action?), so i think it is the worst of the 3 options.

if you read all this as "raise or fold!", then so be it.

I think a case could be made for folding preflop, though I would like a bigger sample size on villian.

This flop spot kind of sucks. I like calling better than raising actually. I think the cheaper we can get to showdown the better, and I am not really concerned about getting other hands to fold.

Reads would obviously help, but what can MP2 have here: AK/AA/KK/AQ/maybe AJ/maybe A10/K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

We have to pay 3BB to see a showdown, are often drawing dead or to 3 outs, and could outdrawn by flush the times we are ahead. I don't think we win often enough.

with MP2's stats I'd actually let it go pf, AJs is not a 3betting hand, even with postion. The flop is ugly, even with TPGK. MP2's raise screams "I have a better hand than you". Listen when the man tells you that your cards are no goot.

Interesting use of authoritative tone, but the preflop coldcall with two limpers in before the PFR and a big suited ace is just fine if Hero can fold this flop with this action.
