I dunno, in the moment I was thinking: "boy, nice flop. I sure don't wanna get c/raised off this purdy draw in case he's tarping me".

Would you fire the flop if you missed?

Umm.. if you're going into a hand thinking he's gonna cr you, you probably shouldn't be 3-betting this? I mean, just bet, you fold out AK/AQ and some connectors if he spite-called with them. Continue to rep strength, or don't 3-bet.

Yeah that's what I'm getting at, if you bet when you miss (which you should, you have 8 high), you should bet when you hit.

If you push turn, what are you hoping to fold out?

I wasn't going into the hand thinking this, but I realized when some TAGs just call 3bets OOP they'll do so w/ a big PP's to tarp you so I decided to take a free one here.

Well, we fold some of his range preflop, then more of his range on the flop, then even more of his leftover range on the turn.

The range of hands he would be trapping you with on the flop are much less than the # hands he would be folding to a cont bet. I feel a cont bet is the best play after he checks, the pot is pretty big and I would get in there and fight to win it so he can't outplay you on the turn. If he does push on the flop after you bet, I feel whether you call or not depends on the table image you want to convey. If your going to check the flop you need to pray much harded for the straight to hit the turn.
