This thread is retarded because the OP ignores the fact that the 2 worst teams in baseball are in the American League and the American League had a much, much, much better year in Interleague play (154-98). Okay, that IL record is embarassing, but take that into account and the "awesome" AL Central and the "awful" NL Central are both equally competitive divisions, one just happens to have gotten their butts kicked much more in IL play (63-27 vs. 31-62).

I'm just happy the NL Central has replaced the NL West as the worst division in baseball.

Go Dodgers!

[/ QUOTE ] you could very easily say this is a result of them playing better teams overall.

[/ QUOTE ] Not sure what your point is, because this seems to support the claim that the AL is better than the NL.

The NL's best team: New York Mets, 94-65.

The AL's arguably worst playoff-bound team, the Oakland Athletics. Their record? 92-67.

The Mets MIGHT be the third best team in the AL Central, if they were to move to it.

And let's not even talk about the NL Central, which makes me want to vomit just thinking about the organizations that comprise that joke of a division. The NL West is no prize either.

Screw you, National League. I can think of at least three teams in the league that should be contracted.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm thinking the Mets might finish in third in the AL East and West, and maybe 4th in the Central? :-)

also, since 1990, the AL has won 10 of the past 15 WS, also 10 straight all star games. Seems the AL has been better than the NL for some time.

How do you justify two divisions as equally competitive when in their respective games against each other, one division clearly has had the upper hand?

Do you mean competitive relative to one another? 4 piss-poor teams beating up on each other closely is not equal to 4 good teams beating up on each other closely.
