Re: You Have to Admire a Mosquitoe\'s Persistence: Holdem Poker
[ QUOTE ]
I didn't know the rules... no more links. I just thought someone might like to read about a home poker game on the home poker page. [/ QUOTE ] Bloggerbane, nevermind the nonsensical replies. They are just kidding around. Small Fry's explanation was correct. Larry was simply pointing out that it was odd to see a tourney use such small denominations. For example at the casino tourneys you may buy in for $30 but you get 5000 chips (it's a good idea not to use dollar signs when referring to tourney chips since they don't represent real money yet). The blinds might start at 25/50 and when you get to heads up play they could be at 4000/8000. It will take the same amount of time to play the event as if you used 1:1 money to chip ratio but it just sounds better. GL with your game. |

[/ QUOTE ] Nah, if that's what your group is doing, don't translate it into something different for the sake of posting here. We get a better flavor for your game if you tell us what's really happening. Larry thinks your group should change the denomination when you are playing at the tourney, not that you should change them in your head when you tell us what happened. Personally, I don't care, let your group use whatever denominations you want, unless they are so weird that I have trouble following the action (i.e. "There we were at the 21379/42758 blind level when garden snake opened up for 149653 and I looked down at my stack of 342064 and decided to...") |
