Get a lawyer, seriously. My MIP in Michigan ended up costing me ~$900 (court fines/fees plus lost work time) and at least 20 hours of travel/waiting in court/actually being in court/fulfilling probation requirements etc. Generally these cases are not expensive for lawyers since they're so basic, and they can usually get your fees reduced by more than they cost.
My driving privileges were not affected at all, but then again I don't live in CA and by the looks of this thread you might be screwed there. |

No, two of my friends got MIPs when we were down at USC for the game (we go to Cal) and they had to pay a fine and do community service but they didn't lose their licenses. You should be fine...

wow cali is tough. i got one in texas, no license restriction. are you sure you can't get a deferred adjudication or something? maybe its only revoked if you plead guilty.

when I got a minor I paid a $150 fine and that was it. I thought that was standard but it appears it is actually a serious offense in other parts of the country.
