swede: American Splendor was based on the comic of the same name. It was autobiographical, and much of the style of the movie (shots, colors etc) were lifted directly from the book.

So Ghost World and AS are my two favorties so far.

More to come...

Time for another one of these polls. I had a heated discussion with a friend who finds The Hulk the worst comic book movie adaptation ever, while I think it's mediocre but not nearly at the bottom of the list. Anyway, let me hear all the comic book movies you guys can think of. As usual I'll be doing a March Madness style tourney with 64 entrants.

My initial nomination:

The Hulk.

Swede

Whoa, really? I thought the Hulk was completely unwatchable. But to each his own I guess.

My nominations:

Blade (first one)
Superman II
I'm really looking forward to Spiderman III

But I'm not the best judge. I'm not a huge comic book fan.

ALL of these are OK, and should be considered:

Nightwatch
Constantine
Road to Perdition
Phantom
A History of Violence
From Hell
Mystery Men
Tank Girl
Mirrormask
The Mask

Howard the Duck not rly

Why isn't there a Doctor Stange movie yet? He was clearly the pimpinist superhero of all time (except maybe Black Panther...)

EDIT: Dunno why I though Robocop was a comic first...it was more of a homage to various characters, like Darkman.

Elektra
DareDevil
Fantastic Four
Ultimate Avengers (do cartoons count?)

These are not good; they're just nominations.

Road to Perdition was a comic?

From Hell?

A History of Violence?

Wow... I had no idea. They just don't seem comic-y at all to me.

If you really believe this is the case, you clearly have not watched many movies. Whether it is similar to the comic book or not is irrelevant.
