[/ QUOTE ] I don't know if being against it from the start is really helping. I think many Americans were okay with it in the beginning and just now are becoming fed up with it. So I'm not realy sure if this scores him any points.

It's all about PR, you have to each you message into their minds inch by inch, don't just ram it home. The American public has low time preference. They prefer low time preference politicians.
