Yes, there is supposed to be a penalty if the guy signals fair catch and runs off with it. This exists to discourage the whole "fake a fair catch to make them stop" thing.

I'm a big proponent that virtually everything should be reviewable, including penalties.

This is totally unfair. The rule is that the coverage team can't touch the return man if he calls for a fair catch (it is a 15 yard penalty). You therefore can't expect the coverage team to keep playing after the fair catch signal.

That's terrible, what the hell was that? The Big East should be ashamed of themselves. Also, what is Spielman babbling about you have to keep playing, 99.99% of the time you keep playing in that situation, it's a 15 yard penalty. By the time you realize that the fair catch had been blown, it's too late, the wall's set up and it's an easy touchdown.

Yeah the announcer is an idiot. Lousiville did exactly what a well coached, well disciplined team is supposed to do, stopping on the play after a fair catch has been made.

Okay WTF How do they not review that? It should be UCONN TD. Add in the fumble UCONN should have had in UL territory and the refs have somehow more than made up for the punt return.
