Raising credit score quickly

If you pay the debt off, there will still be a black mark on your credit report for 7 years and it won't really help your score much. I'd try to dispute it and see what happens. If push comes to shove and you might be able to negotiate a deal where they'll agree to remove the neg credit history (and have them do this in writing!!!), but this is tough to do.

probably 5 years of paying on time once you get everything paid off.

it's sort of like car insurance, if you get 8 speeding tickets in 2006 and none in 2007 or 2008 you're still paying through the roof.

to put it in perspective i'm 23, have had 2-4 cards since i was 17, on my 2nd car loan and have student loans, all told i've moved ~250k through my lines of credit, never missed a payment, and kept my credit inquries low and my score is only in the mid 700's

a better goal for you would be to get to 600 within 3-4 years which is much more reasonable, the best way to do this is to hire a specialist to help you get back on track (it is tax deductable)

unfortunately there is very little forgiveness when it comes to credit

If you call these agencies to pay off some debt you can get a stipulation that has them remove the bad marks as part of the settlement.

You can also contact the people you owe debt to and ask them for proof that you owe, often times they dont have record of you owing them. then the debt is removed from your credit report.

Your credit score shouldnt matter for getting insurance since u can pay that in advance. i could be wrong in it mattering.

Some employers look this up, so bad credit can put you in a scarier place than you might think.

A lot of insurance companies use credit history when determining your rates. Doesn't matter if you pay in advance or get billed monthly or whatever way you pay.
