I've been watching How I Met Your Mother recently because I was in same position as you...I needed more shows to follow. I think the cast works really well together and it's pretty cleverly written. Plus who doesn't love a grown up Doogie Howser?

Most definitely go with Lost

Don't waste your time again with Lost. It's almost the fourth damn season and they still haven't gotten found? Sounds stupid to me.

Go with The Sopranos. If you watch at least the first few episodes in one sitting, it'll hook you and you'll come back for more. Much better acting than Lost, too, if you ask me.
