I believe the issue w FULLTILT not cuttung paper checks relates to all the "stars" they have on the payroll. Most if not all of these boys and girls live in the U.S., it is not a strech to believe that if FULLTILT starts playing its player with US checks the stars could easily be arrested for promoting gambling.

I don't know much about that, but I can say that I haven't seen any US pros (FT pros anyways) on their site this week. Anyone see any since Tuesday? If the pros haven't played for whatever reason I think they should at least blog some info somewhere.. My 2 cents

Does anyone want to speculate as to whether or not Stars will follow suit on this issue?

speculation is not particularly useful, but if I had to wager I would say yes, that paper checks will be disabled for at least awhile from stars.
i dont think this anything to do with the FT pros |

Your money might be very safe at the sites, but you might no be able to withdrawal it either. eChecks are no longer done at Full Tilt. I'm out until things settle down or they don't at all. I can play live locally anyhow so this crap doesn't matter to me one bit.

Why in God's name are paper checks being pulled? Aren't the specifically exempted in the UIGA? Seriously, WTF! [/ QUOTE ] The law does not specifically exempt or ban any individual payment mechanism. What steps banks will need to take to ensure compliance with the law will be prescribed by the regulations that will be written in the next few months. Speculation is that it will be unduly burdensome for them to require banks to review checks and, possibly, ACH transactions. That would allow individual banks to avoid penalty for processing such payments for their customers. It may be that once the rules are clear, things will open up again. It also may be that while these rules will relieve your bank of any liability for processing a payment to your account, they won't relieve a bank that processes on behalf of a gambling site from liability. It is the companies that are doing business with the sites that seem to be getting nervous (and perhaps with good reason) at this point. |
