How many hands on nl10, how long have you been playing?

[/ QUOTE ]

Small sample size here, but I have been playing NL (in home games and tournaments) for quite a while.

How small?

I don't know. I don't have PokerTracker (yet).

Not many though (say 2000 max?), so the running hot theory is probably sound.

So I'm guessing you know nothing about swings in poker then. At least from a math point of view. I point this out only because you bragged about doing a PhD

i didn't say you couldn't do the calculations...lol. i'm just saying a mathematician who is saying he's crushing NL10 at a small sample size, hence ignoring basic statistics, is pretty funny.

And by basic calculations, i mean...Let's say you make 10bb/100 (pretty good right). That's 2.5$ every 100 hands. Let's say you play 100 hands per table per hour. That's 5$ per hour. Not sure which part, as a mathematician, was worth inquiring about lol.

what are you studying btw?

PTBB is 2x bb/100.

are some of you guys mixing the 2 around? i didn't check.

No, I understand the maths of it completely. I know that it's possible to run good for hours on end, and to run bad for hours on end.

It's not like I've never lost my stack during this run, or never made a mistake, or caught hand after hand of premium cards. There's been a lot of dross in there.

I've taken a very conservative estimate of my winrate at 10NL precisely because of small sample size. On average over the last N sessions (where N is a smallish number) I have probably made on the high side of $5-$10 per hour.

If I'm not beating these tables for at least $3 an hour long term, I'm a Dutchman.

I think it is possible to get to $30/hr playing NL25, but you would need a multitable ratio of about 15-16 to get there.

What is your STD DEV for your sample size?

Stop the hating, I would say u need atleast 6 tables to get that winrate out of 25nl. My suggestion is that u start practising playing more and more tables at the same time, it isn't too hard to play 6 at a time, and I would also suggest to buy some hardware if u dont have proper gear, 19" monitor atleast and a fast mouse/mousepad. Some of the new mice on the market like the laser and those can be pretty bad for multitabling if u have to move the mouse fast. (just my experience).

I Used to be a progamer and I can play 15 fr tables at once if I have to and I would recommend old microsoft optical mouse.
like Microsoft intellimouse 3.0 or optical 1.1

Apparently that would be pretty good, yes. I'm just surprised that that would be considered pretty good at such low limits, when compared to my own (admittedly small) sample.

It's a bit of a shock to the system that the expected winrate is so low. Like I say, that would mean a good player beats 10NL (my baseline, because that's what I'm playing now) for only 60c an hour. That just seems really unlikely. These villains are spewing like there's no tomorrow. 25NL must be MUCH harder.

I hope to be studying algebraic topology, btw.
