I agree. You need more hands. I couldn't imagine making the decision you're considering with less than 250K hands especially if going pro will limit future employment opportunitis.

FWIW, your win rates are impressive and certainly an indicator that you will be successful in the future.

An alternative would be to pursue another degree (MBA, for example) while exploring poker. If things go poorly there won't be a gap in your resume.

I think going to school for 10 years and then wasting your education to go pro because you had a good month sounds like a horrible idea.

even if he had of had a great 3 years online, having gone to school for ten years is irrelevant - sunk cost etc.

If intellectual stimuation is your motivation, take the postdoc position. If money is your motivation, then unless you're very talented and playing high stakes you can make a lot more in industry than you can playing poker.

WTF, a chemistry PhD wants to play cards for a living?
