Re: First hand semibluff
is it really that bad of a play?
if I put me in my opponents shoes I cannot see how he can continue comfortable without a very good hand and I price myself in to call an eventual push and can double or bust directly. |

[/ QUOTE ] You're getting like 2:1 on calling the shove, so it's actually not that bad... Also agree with 3-betting not nec being bad btw. |

I hate it. If he's shoving you have 8 outs and a re-draw to deal w/ I'd call his c/r and go from there [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm with AS here, calling a 5-bet is pure spew. [/ QUOTE ] just fold pre. [/ QUOTE ] I would fold preflop. To the flop raise, I don't mind a smaller reraise and fold to a 4-bet. Flat calling is also fine. I wouldn't fold to the raise. [/ QUOTE ] but as i said earlier i would just fold pre. |

[/ QUOTE ] As I said, 3-bet less and fold to a 4-bet. You don't have odds to call with the straight draw. If villain 4-bets, he usually has a big hand like 2-pair or a set. It is OK to sometimes fold a draw on the flop. This is not a strong draw, and you should not be looking to go allin with it. |

[/ QUOTE ] the main idea was obv not to go all-in, it was to increase my stack with 10% (which I think I do this way the absolute majority of the time), however, I make the raise that big so if he pushes I can comfortable call with close to neutral cEV. I know its a high variance play and I very seldom go for a quick bust or double but I know many successful players do and it was just some kind of "backup" plan as stated if I dont just pick up the pot. |
