I don't know and haven't thought about the specifics of this particular circumstance, but it seems that the market often over reacts to any fed meeting and then immediately corrects.

Not just Fed meetings but any news any economic announcements or numbers (GDP, Unemployment, CPI etc.). These are terrific trading opportunities for the market maker.

You weren't paying attention yesterday? The market was heading down when rumors of easing their stance hit, and popped the market huge. That continued this morning, and when they didn't ease their stance, peopl took partial profits.
