where would I look to determine the proper etiquette here? Any good sites or threads on this forum?

Robert's Rules of Poker is a good and commonly acknowledged source for rules, etiquette and procedures. (I've seen it available for download in .php or .doc format.)

However, bear in mind that every cardroom handles things a little differently. So, best source in the first place is always the cardroom's individual rule book (which is oftentimes more or less loosely based on Robert's Rules of Poker).

In any case there is another part of my question that hasn't yet been addressed: where would I look to determine the proper etiquette here?

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm fairly certain that the etiquette here is the same as us two guys having a beer at the bar and a third guy at the next table.

We can talk about whatever the [censored] we want so just butt the [censored] out.

In between hands is like in between sessions is like in between visits to the casino is like being in public. I don't think any poker rules apply when there is no game on.

There is no "real" etiquette rules post hand. You are free to ask any player anything you want. They, in turn, can either answer your question or not. Then you need to decide if they are telling the truth. Some might frown on you asking questions, but if others are willing to answer, keep asking. You'll be able to tell the ones that won't give you an answer rather quickly, so no point in asking them repeatedly. That would become annoying.

Another good way to get information from players after a hand is to ask them to comment on how you played it. They'll tell what they think you did wrong or right, which is basically telling you how they would have played it.

The BB was probably lying. The button was stupid.

No penalty on your part.

No one should take this sort of thing seriously. The only thing you should take seriously is when you pay to see someones cards and he shows them to you or when he pays to see yours and you show them to him. Otherwise just put your cards in the muck and say anything you want. That's all just good clean fun and no one should take anything that's said seriously.

Actually that's precisely what happened but no one as laughing. Being as it was my first visit to the club and I was very interested in being invited back, I kept my mouth shut. I can't figure out why no one called him on it.

Did he suck?
