Re: 4/8 B&M; ATs huge flop (check-up)
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Anyone bet the river? [/ QUOTE ] Now how about a bluff? How many of those would this opponent 4-bet on the flop? The answer to that question tells you whether or not you can bet the river. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, very right. Betting the river is retarded. |

Re: 4/8 B&M; ATs huge flop (check-up)
Call me tight, but I wouldn't rr the flop. You know he likes his hand when he raises.. maybe he has two pair or a set. You have 17 outs, why not just call the flop and see what happens on the turn?
I think this post is a testament to the perils of over-aggression. You were eyeing his stack without a made hand.. tsk tsk. |

Call me tight [/ QUOTE ] Tight! (but so am I) [ QUOTE ] but I wouldn't rr the flop. You know he likes his hand when he raises.. maybe he has two pair or a set. You have 17 outs, why not just call the flop and see what happens on the turn? [/ QUOTE ] Hypothetically, if he'd turned over his A9, I would have put in every penny I had, or could find/borrow/steal. 18 outs (9 flush, 6 straight and 3 Ts) make me 62% to win. The 3-bet on the flop is because I believed I was a favorite over much of what he could have held (at the time of his first raise). My hand is a favorite over AJ and a big favorite over an overpair (had he tried to be tricky PF). 3-betting and trying to keep control of the hand seems almost mandatory. 5-betting heads up, as pretty much everyone has said here, is pretty spewy (because most people would have WAY better than 2nd pair). edit: What if Villain is on a free-card play? You wouldn't want to three-bet there? |

edit: What if Villain is on a free-card play? You wouldn't want to three-bet there? [/ QUOTE ] Isn't denying a free card something you do when you're not supposed to check the turn? |

Re: 4/8 B&M; ATs huge flop (check-up)
Why did you play this way on the flop?
Villain has some type of made hand he likes and he's not going to fold unless that hand become much, much worse. You don't not have an equity edge to push here. I b/c flop. C/C turn UI. |

Re: 4/8 B&M; ATs huge flop (check-up)
[ QUOTE ]
I wanted to stay aggressive (I'm really working on that) [/ QUOTE ] Ah yes the notion that 2+2 seems to drive into all LHE players... I'll tell u right now, the notion is retardo. LHE is not about aggression, learn to induce bluffs, find c/r on bigger streets, raise/check, keep it fresh. The bet/bet/bet line is retardo your 5bet is retardo, lose the lead with a draw, you want to c/r when you hit. No one ever folds after they 4bet unless they have a HUGE draw, in this case your the one with the draw so he likely doesnt have it, thats a PLO concept btw. Anywho, gl JT |

Re: 4/8 B&M; ATs huge flop (check-up)
[ QUOTE ]
Why did you play this way on the flop? [/ QUOTE ] From original post: "Villain is aggressive, with undeserving and deserving hands" [ QUOTE ] Villain has some type of made hand he likes and he's not going to fold unless that hand become much, much worse. [/ QUOTE ] However, we don't know that just by his first raise on the flop. In the end I think we agree that I WAY overplayed this hand. But a flop raise from this villain means almost nothing. The flop cap...I should have paid attention to. |
