[ QUOTE ]
At one point i made 1700 in two weeks but since then i have lost all and a lot more so i give up [/ QUOTE ] "a lot more" than $1700 to me is a minimum of $2500.00, so that's a total loss of $3200.00. You lost it playing 2/4 & 3/6, so the avg BB was $5.00. That's 700 BB's. I don't think it is possible to lose 700 BBs playing smart poker. I think you had several "tilt sessions." A person doesn't play level headed poker while losing 700 BBs, and then make the post you made. The general agreement for a recommended bankroll for a "pro" who is living off his winnings, is 6 months living expenses and 500x the BB max. This way, he can play without having to worry about having to win today, or this week, and never have to worry about his bankroll getting so low that he has to replenish it. It is also Skalansky's belief, that only 5% of those who attempt it, can make 100k per year with the proper bankroll and living expense account to start with. He made that statement before on-line poker came along. I'm sorry, but I believe there are major flaws in your play. |

It can be quite frustrating and we have all been there. By chance the 4/8 game was on friday night? I think you were playing with my friend he was at that table.
I would recommend playing the 9/18 instead. It still has bad players but not as bad. They are able to lay down 24o. Or you can play the 20/40 with some decent players. |

I seriously think you just experienced a bad run on a short bankroll. Trust me, getting action from donkeys in a live game and getting beats is way better than not getting any action from tight online players.

Last night while playing 3/6 a guy at my table went on an hour and a half streak of raising/3-betting/capping preflop, bet/raising flop, calling to showdown, betting when it was checked to him. Thats right EVERY HAND. I suffered a bad beat and lost a big pot to him near the start and still ended that streak up 100-150 dollars. It was literally like free money for anybody that knows anything about poker.
These situations come up all the time (not quite as extreme as this, but still) and if you can't beat 2/4 or 3/6 live I honestly don't believe you can beat those limits online (I'm very confident in my ability to beat 2/4 - 4/8 live and I'm pretty confident that I can't beat those limits online, or at best I'd be break even). I also have a hard time believing that you've lost $1700 at these limits while playing well. Its possible, I'm sure it happens to some people, but its easy to shrug off results like that as "bad luck" and "variance". |

I love to play your grandfathers. They are fish.
Seriously though, live play is way easier than online. Tonight I got drawn out on several times but still finished up $40 at 3/6/12, which is the only limit game spread at my local casino. Things I love about live poker: 1) Nobody ever raises without the nuts allowing me to make great laydowns I would never be able to make online. (When I recently switched to live play, I was calling too much without the nuts when a grandfather would raise because I was used to the more aggro online games. I soon realized that I could read these @$$h0le@ like a book and make great laydowns I would never dream of making online.) 2) Almost everyone is very loose/passive. 3) Even the "good" players kinda suck. 4) I almost never have a losing session. |

what are you doing betting and cant beat bottom pair? [/ QUOTE ] For crazy loose low limit live casino games, this is pretty much the most important question in the thread. |
