Re: Soriano joins 40/40 club
[ QUOTE ]
Players historically play better in their contract years. [/ QUOTE ] Players historically play better when they are happier too, what's the point? Historically is a bad word to use b/c it doesn't apply to everyone, many big contract years are during a young players peak and so timing has a lot to do with this...not all but some. I simply don't agree that Soriano was a 40/40 guy b/c it was his contract year, it's an excuse for anyone that doubted him and an easy way for all the naturally negative people to rain on someones parade. Look at his numbers, he has shown the ability to do this in the past, it isn't as if he woke up, realized that this year was the year to get paid and had a career year because if you look at it his, numbers are very comparable to 2002 and a few of his other years aren't far behind this one. To say it was a contract year and that's why is a bullsh*t response plain and simple. |

Re: Soriano joins 40/40 club
crockpot,
Do you realize how many people play baseball? More than you actually know, so out of all of these people there are going to be a ton that play like [censored] when they are happy but it isn't because they are happy obviously. The point is is that you give yourself the best opportunity to succeed when you are happy than when you are miserable, this is a fact. |

You act like this is fact, when it is not.
We're talking about major leaguers here, not you. (no offense) |

Re: Soriano joins 40/40 club
UCF,
Of course no offense taken. One of my best friends has been in the big leagues since 2001, his happiness has made all the difference in the world. Many others are the same way, and just b/c I haven't been to the big leagues doesn't mean that I am not around them and that I don't know how they work, the emotions in baseball work the same in every level. When you are unhappy and miserable it is a lot harder to succeed, yes, you may succeed but it is harder to do so just as if you are happy you may fail but being happy puts you in the best position to succeed. I could talk to you all day about this stuff but I don't want to get into anymore personal [censored] really so think what you would like, it really doesn't matter to me...just felt like adding something to a thread that I know about. |
