Re: Vegas for New Years- three last minute hotel choices
If you don't care about quality of accomodations, Casino Royale was the cheapest I found. It is mid strip between Venetian and Harrahs. Room quality is like a motel 6.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Here's something else I'm considering: staying at the cheapest place on New Year's, probably that comfort inn, and then moving to a nicer strip hotel (Ballys or TI, probably) for the other two nights. Has anyone done that? Is it too inconvenient? [/ QUOTE ] I've done that lots of times. It's inconvenient, but only for a little while. I'd do the Comfort Inn. [/ QUOTE ] It was too good to be true: that rate was the government/military rate. Bally's rate is still good, but it looks like our "cheap" night isn't going to be that cheap. [/ QUOTE ] Super 8 on Koval - $150 Palace Station - $189 South Point - $195 [/ QUOTE ] I was jumping on Palace Station, then found a deal for Stratosphere for $171. I foolishly booked without checking up on the site (TripRes) and apparently they are known for going through the entire booking process for deals that they aren't sure exist. Looks like that's the case, as instead of a confirmation, I got an "itinerary received" e-mail stating that they will let me know when it's been confirmed. Being cheap isn't worth it. [/ QUOTE ] That sucks. I've had very good luck using tripres the few times I've used it. I've also called hotels asking for a rate. When they give it to me I say "Thanks, but I've found it lower elsewhere" and sometimes they'll match it. |

[/ QUOTE ] Where did you find Casino Royale rates? Their website has them as booked. Their website, by the way, is impressively amateurish for a strip hotel, even a dumpy strip hotel. That makes me like em. |

I think I paid $109 a night for the weekend and New Years Eve(Monday). Room quality is like the Motel 6, (it used to be a Travelodge) but cleanliness can vary greatly by room. That said, here is my take on the place: Cons: * The drinks come out in 8oz glasses; * The waitresses range from 2's - 5's; * Don't expect to sleep until 5am if noise bothers you; Pros: * You can't beat the price for the location; * You will have a new drink in front of you every 4-6 minutes; * Blackjack Switch w/$5 Min bet. Guess it's not TripRes' amazing ability to find great rates that has it being the only online deal site with rates at tons of strip hotels. |

The location is orgasmatic. |

Palace Station, then Harrah's. It came down to a view-room at Harrah's or a standard at Bally's, and I found pretty good reviews of the "Luxury View" at Harrah's, and it was cheaper, so I went with that. |

Re: Vegas for New Years- three last minute hotel choices
I've stayed there countless times and while noise bothers me I never had a problem sleeping here. Just make SURE to unplug the phone. The maid will call your room even though you have the do not disturb sign up!
