5-1 Royals as I type this. With the WhiteSox being blown out by the Indians, it's a great day so far.

Huge strikeout of Big Papi with 2 on and 2 out in the 8th. The improved bullpen should be good for at least more 10 wins. Royals blew more leads in the 8th and 9th then anyone last year.

While opening day success never means anything for the Royals, I too am looking for a more competitive year from my team. The lineup is improved, the fielding is improved (hey Ah-Hell is gone!), and Dayton Moore knows what he's doing and will at least try. Unlike Allard Baird's never-ending 5 year plan (which was always in year number 1 for some reason), Moore has made changes immediately that should help.

While I'd be thrilled with .500 ball, I can't see them winning much more than 72-77 games really. They still play in the toughest division in baseball, they still have numerous question marks, etc. I couldn't go to Opening Day (had a test in a class), but I will be there tommorow.

Tony Pena Jr. has already done more for the Royals today then AH-HELL did the last three seasons.

Royals win 7-1. Enjoy it while it last I guess.

Not only that Moore it seems has convinced the Glasses to stay out of his way. It took the Glasses a long time to realize you can't run a major league franchise like Wal-Mart.

UNDEFEATED!

and actually they looked really good today, for the most part. sure the sox pitchers were off their game, but we held it together remarkably well.

lets hope we can keep it up and surprise everyone with a solid year!

game 2 bump. Odalis Perez vs Josh Beckett. Let's hope that blister is behind him and we get a 2nd quality start in two tries. I'm jacked for tonight, but I am really fired up about Dice-K v Greinke tomorrow. I am going tomorrow and look forward to that matchup of 2 young studs who could become stars.

Winning a series vs Boston would be a big confidence boost to this team. I think they can do it, assuming they play as well as they did on Monday. Also, I predict Alex Gordon gets his first major league hit tonight!

Jesus, its about time we bump this damn thread. Royals started out miserably to the tune of 19-35 by the end of May. Certainly they were done for by then.

However since then the Royals record has been 38-36. Not too shabby. Lots of young players really stepping it up, Bannister has been excellent. Looks like Gordon/Butler could be great 3/4 hitters for us for a long time. Kyle Davies got rocked last night, but hopefully he can develop and be a solid starter for next year. Meche has pitched very well despite a poor record. Bullpen looks great.

All in all I like it. Oh and we have passed the White Sox in the standings, gotta love that.

How long do we have them wrapped up?
