I know what you're saying, it's just 3x isn't that much different than 2x $$ wise. I think players are more likely to call behind you with stuff like T8s that they might not normally call with if you min-raise as opposed to betting 3x if you want to decrease the size of your EP raises.

You guys are right. I misread, and Phil Gordon advises 2 and a half times raise in early position.

Don't blindly take advice. Any fool can write an article and any fool can give you his advice. The advice you got, is IMO very wrong, but since I told you not to take anyone's advice I think the best thing is for you to think it through

But as I am on the topic. It opens to you up to many random raises. You will get raised by complete chit. You will get called by complete chit. When the chit hits you will lose a lot, when it doesn't they lose $8. How you get to 2/4 without being able to figure this out is mind blowing.

The min raise...there was an article I read yhat gave the idea of sizibg your raises based on your position at the table.....been trying it out.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know what size is best, but a raise that will knock out the tight/good players and keep the loose/bad players is often good.

Phil Gordon might be the worst "pro" out there. That quote proves it.
