from 10-20 to 20-40/25-50 is not so difficult. [/ QUOTE ] In my room, 10-20 is alot different than 20-40. 10-20 played much more like 4-8. b |

Re: Question regarding moving up in stakes...
If your local room doesn't spread something in between the limits you need for a natural transition, you can still get plenty of experience in other ways. Playing some 6 max games online even as low as 1/2 or 2/4 will really help you expand your game and prepare you for the increased aggression. Read the SH forums as well and you should be prepared quickly. Your non gambling attitude is pretty much in line with most successful poker players who in fact play poker since they can gamble with a decent edge.
The only kind of BJ I am interested in has nothing to do with cards. |

Re: Question regarding moving up in stakes...
Nicky,
You are a winner at 3/6 becuse the game is incredibly weak. Once you move up, you'll get raped. I'll be the [censored] you hate but I'll save you money - you are not ready. You admit to being a weak/tight player. Such players either do not win, or win marginal amounts - above 5/10 You only play live - your sample size is small. You ran up 20k = lots of luck. Nicky you gotta decide - you either commit to poker and play online to become a winning player - or sit there day after day squeezing out a marginal profit live. If making 15$/hour is satisfactory for you and that's how much your time is worth, then sitting day after day at 3/6 is perfectly fine, but I hope you got big ambitions. They're not coming true without playing lots of hands online is what every good player is going to tell you, including those who've built their rolls playing live. |

Re: Question regarding moving up in stakes...
I generally agree with what everyone else has said. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, and are going about things the right way. $20k is plenty of bankroll to play 20-40.
Watching the 20-40 game a lot is a good idea, and seeing if you can spot misakes you think the others are making is good. I would recommend trying to find a cardroom (any Indian Gaming casinos nearby?) that spreads 8-16/10-20/15-30 first. Jumping from 4-8 to 20-40 is a massive jump. Skill level is one thing, but the stakes are going to seem enormous. You could easily lose $1000 in two hours and mentally that can be tough to take. The other thing I would add is this -- yes, you can try out a more loose-aggressive style at low limits, but unfortunately your results won't necessarily positively match your change in style. For instance, I raised 77 yesterday in a 4-handed game yesterday on a flop of J-5-5 rainbow. This was the right play in my 20-40 game at that time, but in a 3-6 game with a bunch of loose-passive players, this is probably an idiotic play to raise a bettor. I believe there is an optimal way to play every type of game, but the optimal 3-6 winning style is not going to be the optimal 20-40 winning style and vice-versa. Good luck. BTW, I limp with KQs a lot in EP! :-) Depends on the table, my image, etc. |

I play poker generally 2-3 nights per week, and from anywhere to 5-8 hours at a time. 6 * 2.5 * 78 = 1170 hours played 20,000 / 1170 = 17$/hour he is making I take it back Nicky you are not running hot, you are running pretty well |
