[ QUOTE ]
Anyone else going to get Iron Man medals on FTP?

What should I do with them? What are the freerolls?

[/ QUOTE ]

I get silver or bronze each month and am saving my medals to buy 25k points, almost there. I plan on getting the monitor once my tilt points get over 62k. Once i get enough medals for the 25k points, that will put me over the amt needed.

The freerolls are for anyone that qualifies that forgets to opt out or doest not want medals. The advantage in playin in the freerolls would be that alot of people that are registered dont show up, and alot more that do are from limit poker and dont play well in tourneys, and there are others that dont think its worth their time due to the level of poker they normally play. Hence freerolls are normally +EV.

I still am saving my medals though.

Does it worry you that spending the FTP points deducts from your MGR? Hence you get less rake. Assuming you get rake?

No it does not worry me. Even paying 27% of something retail is saving me money if I want to get something. I cant remember what the cost is per point (its in the affiliates/rakeback thread with this topic), but its not alot. Its money not coming out of my pocket to get something i want/need.

The cost of the Freeroll is deducted from your MGR also. Ex: 20k Gold, ~200 players = ~cost of $100 per player * 27% = ~27$ in RB lost.

I have done both in the past. I played in 3 Gold freerolls. Bubbled one, got bottom tier for $80 once, and 6th place for $750 once. I am not playing as much now, so I take the double medals, which I will likely use for the $300 bonus many months from now.

The Freerolls (gold/iron) are defo +EV if u can play a patient, solid MTT game. The fields in the bronze/silver are much larger, so obviously less +EV.

I just hit month 7 and I will probably make iron this month. Combined with the aussie millions I will probably end up with 400ish for the month.

I dont know what I want to buy with the medals so I am just saving them up. I will probably cash them in when I can get a plasma or something...or a new laptop. Either way I dont want to take a major hit to my MGR yet...its such a major part of my roll building.

Reasons:
- You should post it just because there is a chance that the veteran posters here and those who know more than you will tear your essay appart so that YOU learn something from it.

Bingo! I used to not post thinking that so much was standard and I knew the standard play blahbalahblah, but it is amazing how often one (one meaning me) makes the right play for the wrong reason or even the wrong play over the long haul. To me posting (especially grunching) has led to me receiving way more lessons than I give.
