Villain is 34/24/2.1 over 80 hands. 50% c-bet, 0% c/r. I vaguely remember him FPSing all over some big hand earlier where he drew thin and made his hand on the river, then tried a c/r in a stupid spot. He'd actually been min-raising preflop a lot, so this real raise was a bit unusual.

I'd just let it go slim, they are usually serious with their pot size bets.

We tangled once earlier and got all in preflop and both had AA. He 3-bet his AA preflop and shoved over my 4-bet fwiw.

Almost all better hands call. Worse hands either fold or raise, and you have to fold to a raise. Free cards aren't likely to hurt your hand. If you check, people will bet and call bets with hands you beat on later streets.

[/ QUOTE ]

There are a lot of free cards that hurt. Anyone with KQ QJ JT 87 76 can make a straight, anyone with two clubs can make a frush. Don't we want to rep the A and take it down/charge a draw to stay in?

Yeah, but anyone with those same cards can make at least one pair that doesn't beat you, so it kinda balances out when that pays you off. You aren't in any danger of paying off a huge hand in a big pot anyway with second pair. Maybe think of it this way: there's not many draws that will incorrectly stick around so you can't really force a mistake by betting.
