The whole Pats thing is still very unclear, and I think it's going to die unclear. If they were able to intercept the opposing teams signs and mic them down to Tom in real time, it would provide a significant advantage - they'd get touchdowns on most possessions. Supposedly it didn't get to that level, so whether or how they leveraged any information gleaned from this is really murky.

I absolutely hate the Pats with a passion, but I'll say the whole thing is a bit overhyped. You're allowed to have cameras in a few different spots in the stadium and you can point them wherever, you just can't bring one down on the sideline. I doubt they gained all that much over the years from this, honestly. Maybe a little edge here or there but it doesn't really tarnish their legacy, unfortunately.
