Getting on base isn't enough you have to know what to do when you are on base like such as messing up the timing of the pitcher and stealing bases and sacrificing and breaking up double plays like we used to play in the 70s. What happened was people read Billy Bean's book Moneyball and misunderstood these new stats like on-base percentate and this OPS stuff, which doesn't win you ballgames. The question was, and I'm not sure if this word means what Im about to say but Abstract. Taken out of context (I think thats what it means), the question can still be answered even by myself. Maybe if the Cubs had one more African-American player, such as a Gary Sheffield type who gets on base a lot and hits for power, they might have won last night.
