I've gotta admit that eventhough I hate the Yankees I don't mind if they win solely because of all the thought durron puts into the matchups etc.
It's truely amazing [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

if the rockies do win the world series .....

i think it will force baseball to instill instant replay in the playoffs

i mean i think the rockies probably win that 1 game playoff game anyway, but holliday did clearly miss home plate .. and that stigma will be hard to break

that being said, what have they won, 16 of 17 now? Incredible

Baseball desperately needs replay - on scoring plays only, though. Tags at the plate, and HR calls.

That slope there is pretty slippery, what about a close call at first on a potential RBI ground ball, or a close tag on an important late-inning basestealer. Or maybe its just a routine play but the missed call breaks up the Mets' first no-hitter. How do you chosee where to draw the line? And then after a team gets jobbed by a lack of replay, maybe they'll start reviewing a critical late inning called strike? I don't think anybody wants that.

And plays like the Holiday run that "need" review in baseball occur maybe once every ten, twenty games--this isn't football where the speed and complexity of the play is often too much for officials.

Nor is there a refereeing controversy like in basketball where the calls are often subjective and prone to bias. The beauty of baseball has always been that if you think you get shafted, you can yell at the ump, he can throw you out... you can bean guys you think play dirty, and after the 162+ games are played it probably all evens out in the end.

Instant replay is the future of sports. I'd be surprised if baseball doesn't have it within 5 years and shocked if they don't have it within 10. That said, it's baseball so 25 years from now sounds about right.
