Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
I find the entire idea of rating actors performances so subjective as to be impossible to come to an agreement on a an individual movie basis, let alone on an career's worth. Say you really liked some actor in some movie -- can you truly objectively splice his acting talent's contribution from the enjoyment, when the character, the script, the direction, the editing, etc., contribute so much to the final result? We could make a thread about one actor in one movie, and you'd get 100 different opinions. I find the premise of this thread interesting, but totally hopeless.

What about Bill Paxton? Awesome as Chet in Weird Science, and other than the "Game Over, Man!" line in Aliens, he's been horrific in everything else I've ever seen him do. [/ QUOTE ] Frailty True Lies ("Take the girl!") One False Move |

Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
Kevin Spacey topped out before fame in Glengarry and it's been steeply downhill afterward. At this point any movie he's in just looks terrible.

DaveR,
Usual Suspects? I mean if you're crazed and don't like it, between that 7 and America Beauty I would say his fame was higher than than in GGGR |

And a limp isn't acting. I've never watched Seven. Look at everything post-American Beauty (which IMO is so obvious--OMG, materialistic suburban life is empty and shallow!). It looks like movies trying to seem important. |

Re: Who has the highest \"Cuba number?\"
Spacey's preformance was far from the best thing in US, but I enjoyed it. I agree with you on AB, it's not a great movie. I'm just saying that his Q rating was probably at his highest during that time.

I figured The Usual Suspects out near the beginning [/ QUOTE ] No you didn't, and if you did, it was a lucky guess. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Anyway, some one mentioned earlier that if you can think of just a couple of good movies for a person, the score is not going to be real high unless that person has produced a LOT of stinkers. Jean Claude van Damme is the best nominee so far I think, just because of the sheer crap he has produced. The only debatable thing is if bloodsport counts as a 'good performance'. I think it does, but it might be childhood memories and I haven't seen that movie in forever. |
