OTOH, on a more serious note, to be playing devil's advocate, 15 years for what he did seems too much. I understand, firearm, blah blah blah, but..

Firearm laws in the US are such that it's a realistic risk for him to get killed, right? So he finds a gun. He figures he's better off holding on to it than leaving it for the owner to come home and kill him with it. Or perhaps your dad keeps a shotgun in the trunk, who knows.

I'm not saying what he did was right, or even 'not wrong' - I'm just saying that, partly because of the firearm situation in the US, it's not that unreasonable for him to have a gun. Hell, there are places where it's possible to get 'only' 15 years if you murder someone. Does breaking in and taking a few K of stuff really fall into the same category? Yes, he broke in and had a gun, which makes for a potentially life-threatening situation. But apparently he didn't bring the gun to the break-in. He also immediately dropped it. I think it would be fairer to look at the actual damage done here. 15 years is basically sending him off for life at this stage. He's just a fn kid. He may deserve to go to prison, but based on this incident alone, 15 years is overreacting IMO.

If it were me, all in all I'd probably still press charges. [censored] him, the stupid [censored] did it to himself. But I can certainly see why someone would feel differently.

The decision on whether or not my sister should be around him is mine, as my mom has said that she'll do whatever I feel is best in this situation.

35 hr at a plant (and he is how old)? Is that code that he is selling drugs?

Yeah Im really curious how LA can be so poor on the whole as a state when there are career options for this guy at 35 per.

His wage does seem a little high. I think I agree with El D that there's a good chance they are having sex.

I haven't read this whole thread, so if some of this has already been said, I appologise.

The reason this guy is not in jail for statutory is that the police don't know. In order for the police to do something, someone needs to inform them.

If Dominic is 18 now, and the girl got preggers over a year ago, he shouldn't be guilty of statutory, right?
