3) I have received no other transfers over $1 from anyone over the past several months.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that he receives <$1 transfers?

The issue I would be afraid of is the fact that someone may have lost control of their account, and that the OP's account is targeted by the person who presumably has control over the theoretically hacked account. If one account can be hacked, what's to say your account hasn't been hacked? If a hacker is going to transfer money out of a hacked account, wouldn't he transfer it to another account they control?

If you were a hacker, and going to steal and then launder money through stolen accounts, would it make sense to:

1. Test the system first with an amount that people would find trivial?

2. Watch the security team's response?

3. Use "high-profile" accounts to make it seem too ridiculous to be true?

Steven Naftaly hacked HoldumGod's account and talked other stars players in sending him money on neteller in return for stars $. Steven sent them the money from HoldumGod's account, which stars later reclaimed (and refunded in one case I read the details about).

That's the story behind this [censored]

We had extra issues with this account last night that I really can't go
into, because it involves detail that only PokerStars and the account
holder are entitled to share, due to privacy regulations.

why the [censored] are the only laws and regulations that affect online poker companies privacy regulations?

I'd tell PS to send it back as you don't know this person. Any unauthorised transfers should not be taken lightly and it is correct for PS to take this seriously and wrong of you to dismiss it. Once you clear up you don't know this person and do not want any transfers from them you should be in the clear.
