He's obviously a better pocket passer than Vick, and maybe even Daunte. I think Vince is smart enough (Wunderlich FTL!) to realize he can't win rings with his legs. Just College rings. I think he knows that crap doesn't work up here when linebackers run almost as fast as you do, know how to tackle, and aren't retarded. |

Re: *Official* Philadelphia E-A-G-L-E-S Thread (2007-2008)
phb,
I don't know if that's fair. McNabb developed over time into an excellent pocket passer, but injuries took away a lot of his mobility. That part of his game isn't really there anymore. Had it not been for the injuries, McNabb would be an elite dual-threat QB. Just look at his 2004 season. Vick never developed into even a mediocre pocket passer, but was still an elite runner until he ended up in jail. And if he had stayed healthy and out of jail, I think he would have been an elite runner for several more years. The point is that, sure, over time a QB will lose his running ability. But over time he will develop his passing ability. That 5 year window is probably more like 6-10 years when a QB can be effective as both a runner and a passer, with an emphasis on running in the first couple years and an emphasis on passing in the later years. Hopefully VY will stay healthy, because he will be a good case study for this. He's an elite runner and is already a better passer than Vick. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah, I agree completely. they were missing Dawkins, Lito, Tra Thomas, Westbrook and LJ. i'm not sure how you expected them to be completely effective. the offensive line, despite what we witnessed tonight, is excellent. Donovan at full strength is one of the best QBs in the NFL. the receiving corps is average, sure. but I can't possibly see how you can think the team is "horrible." imo, hoya, you tend to overreact to things a bit much. |

As an outsider looking in, I can completely see how someone would want to get rid of Mcnabb and Reid. Just don't hire Norv Turner when he's fired in 2 weeks.
I think the fans have, for many reasons, given up a bit on McNabb. He hasn't really done himself any favors. I think with McNabb's age and injury history his window is quickly closing, too. Dropping him now might be for the best. |

mcnabb didn't look great, but in all fairness his line gave him no time and they put constant pressure on him. he's just not going to look very good when he has no time. guys like manning and romo get tons of time in the pocket.

[ QUOTE ] Dropping him now might be for the best. [/ QUOTE ] it would upset me greatly if they did this. also, if Chicago picked him up and he ended up doing well with Chicago, i would be incredibly angry. |

it would be a HUGE mistake to drop mcnabb now, it's so dumb. he still has a few good seasons left in him, get that o-line straightened out and maybe he'll do better.
