Re: Commercials that make you NOT buy the product
[ QUOTE ]
I would never eat at Applebee's again anyway because their food is teh suck and their service is horrible, but a couple of years ago during the NCAA tournament, they started running a commercial with these two douchebags singing about shrimp, to the tune of "Gilligan's Island." I was watching the first day of the tournament at a sports bar with 8 TVs showing 8 different games, and it ran during every commercial break of all 8 games. I swear I must have had to watch that commercial 100 times in just a few hours. By the end of the day I made a solemn vow to myself never to eat at Applebee's again and to murder those douchebags if I ever got the chance. [/ QUOTE ] Blocked these from my mind. I was on tilt for the entire NCAA tournament that year. The Sonic commercials are definitely better than most on TV. How anyone can hate that Snickers commercial is beyond me. How did this thread go so long with no one mentioning THIS IS OURRRRRRRRR COUNTRY fuckignapsdgodg;jadsjgfaoigfja 700 times every Sunday last season. |

Re: Commercials that make you NOT buy the product
For me the worst commercials are generally the ones that really try to sell you something that you get anyway.
Like the cell phone commercials saying how they have the fewest dropped calls. Who the [censored] has dropped calls anymore? Cell phone carriers in general... they're commercials suck because everyone knows they're about the slimiest bunch of crooked [censored] on the planet. The bank commercials where they go on and on about all the fees and crap you get at the "other" bank so come over to us and get free checking! WTF?! I mean who the blue [censored] would PAY for a checking account? I've never opened an account at any bank ever that required me to pay for checking or to see a teller. The credit card companies who try to sell you on identity theft or fraud protection as if they're the only ones - seriously jesus christ are there even credit cards that exist that DON'T cover you for fraud and identity theft?? |

That f-ing coors lite love train commercial. I thought that atrocity died with superbowl XLI. It's going to be another long season.
At least I haven't seen any John Mellencamp yet *fingers crossed* |

How anyone can hate that Snickers commercial is beyond me. [/ QUOTE ] It's not a bad idea at all... but, wow. the song. The melody to that song makes me ANGRY. I clench my jaw a bit every time I hear it. The only other even remotely recent song to do that to me was Hoobastank's "The Reason". asdfsdf |

Re: Commercials that make you NOT buy the product
I hate the new Honda Accord commercials, where "Mr. O" knocks on the camera. He does this at the beginning, then they do the standard car commercial stuff. Then, it's revealed(!) that "O" stands for "Opportunity" and "Mr. O" then knocks on the glass again.
This is all bad enough, but then at the end he says "I'm back, and I'm knocking." They do it right before it fades b/c I think they're even embarassed at having to include that part. If you're trying to be "clever" with a commercial and fail miserably, at least don't dumb it down. |
