I would go with Rounders (jk).

The Pianist is an excellent movie.

It won some awards, but is not well know among the general public.

It got 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Your fake answer is probably less horrendous than your real answer.

The Pianist won multiple major Academy Awards and grossed $120,000,000.

Links to imdb's so you can read plots and whatnot:

She Hate Me by Spike Lee for many reasons. Lotta ppl just plain don't like his films, but I think they are just being misunderstood. Especially this one.

Confidence with Ed Burns, Rachel Weisz and Dustin Hoffman. Good casting top/bottom, solid movie all the way thru. Really sad this one was overlooked, maybe b/c of believability? IDK, ppl are fickle

There should be a rule against movies that received Oscar nominations (and certainly against those that won).

Three Kings starring Clooney and Wahlberg was a very underappreciated film IMO.

Confidence is one of my go to movies.

The Recruit I don't think gets a lot of attention anymore.

Potential -- Perfume: the story of a murderer (I hoping the movie is entertaining since it went a slightly different direction from the book) I need to get some people together and rent it.
