I'm not aware of anything like that for Shakespeare.

I know of one, it's called meaningful content

I think it's easier to memorize something if it has a meaning.

I'm willing to bet even money I can repeat the first 200 digits of pi, and with some odds the first 500 and 1000.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's not as hard as you'd think. I did a couple hundred of pi back when I was in college over a week or two (don't remember exactly). No good reason. I was just really bored.

[/ QUOTE ]
yeah, i did 259 in middle school and still know ~120 (10 years later). this is a majorly self-weighting proposition. if you think you can do it, you probably can. i'd take 1000 digits at even money if i had a month to memorize. (note: not really looking to take an actual bet. i just don't think memorizing pi is that hard if you have that kind of mind)

It's a double edged sword. I could imagine it being easier to slip up on word for word exactness if you know you're at least conveying the right meaning.

Too many benching/pushup props. Any good deadlift prop bets? I think I could do 600lb within a year for the right price.

I'd like to see some good weight gain bets.

I'd be up for any sort of golf bet. One-club, lefty, long drive, qualify for or make the cut for a tournament...

Odds my wife is ever wrong again (in her eyes).

But seriously. I have a friend that is a scratch golfer. I typically shoot 93-100. More like 90-95 by the end of the summer He plays straight up and I get to play a 4 ball scramble. We would play 6 holes a day because I don't think I could swing the club something like 300 times in one day and this shouldn't be an endurance test.

Neutral course that neither of us has played.

Who should get odds? What other information would be revelant.

talent: What sort of money are you willing to wager on your girls? 7 17yo guys v 11 17yo girls we're talking. If my friends in Portland have youth soccer league connections, I'll be willing to bet very big on this.

All: Anyone willing to take any strength/endurance bets vs. shemp, I'll be willing to measure them for some small fee (I mean like pay for my meals during the period).

quids: How much for the KFC bet?

pete: You won't ever run this bet, but I like Nate's side a lot.

J: Maybe tennis might be tougher for me. I didn't realize your old ass was in such good shape.

[/ QUOTE ]

shemp: i live in MT and the 1k pushups in 3hrs isn't really a good bet for you, but i would be willing to wager up to low six figures on it if you want to give me action.

el d: not in THAT great of shape, but getting better everyday, starting to get back into tennis though, you should make my bro take you to the sf racket club and you can whip up on him.

later. J.

I was thinking the day after you did 1000 would have been a good day.

I also need an out like if I matched or doubled or something.

Come to think of it, these fitness prop bets are just bragging and don't really belong in this thread. No one is gonna give action to a stranger willing to take on some challenge.

that was sort of my point.
i just thought about doing it after apathy didn't make it, then subfallen said he would do it w/me so i did it for fun.

we could def. do something that had to be matched if you want. video tape it and let el d. arbitrate if needed.
his fee could be dinner at chez panisse or something.

not bragging really either, sorry if it came acrossed that way, was brought up and i did it, not that big of brag if it was one.

if you want to do something let me know, i love action on any of this type of stuff.

later. J.

J, shemp:

Any test of endurance type bet between the two of you can be held in person in SF in September.
