Okay I realize I am a mile later to the party but I watching Phil Gordon explain one of the traits of a fish is looking at a hand as soon as they get it. Can someone explain is so bad about that?

[/ QUOTE ] The only thing you can accomplish by looking at your hand before your turn is to give out information to your opponents. In a home game or at low levels with unobservant players, you can look before your turn if you feel more comfortable. But at large tournaments it can only hurt you. |

Looking at the cards immediately is not a sure-fire indication of a fish. A lot of great players do it. But fish are more likely to do this.
