How to Dominate $1 and $2 No Limit Hold'em

seems like most of the 400+ pages are highly substantive... will report further as i get further along.

Pardon me if this has already been asked and answered, but why should someone buy this book as opposed to Angel Largay's book or Harker and Fox's Mastering book?

I say buy them all and decide for yourself which is best and what of the contents are helpful.

I don't mean to keep others from giving you their opinions on this question.

I am definitely getting How To Dominate and will at least study the others at one of my local libraries.

I was just wondering what sets this book apart from the other.

Because its better than harker and Fox's book....in fact i would say their book doesnt really have much of a market anymore as it is perhaps too basic.

Dominate, Largays book and the 2+2 titles are probably the only NL Holdem cash game books worth thinking about at the moment.

I think Dominate is easier to read than Largays book, but i am a relative newcomer to poker, especially No limit and appreciate the extra description throughout the book.

Dominate focuses on playing in a certain (tight aggressive?)style and the table conditions required for it...if they dont exist then dont play. Play mainly big hands, using marginal hands to make a little extra profit.

i think Largay is less about creating one particular image but about creating images for that particular table, with the emphasis more on stacking players. i havent read very much of it..but i am sure once i have improved my NL play through Dominate and PNL i will go back to the Largay book.

Dominate focuses on just what the name suggests - dominating the table. Whether that means TA with a table full of LAGs or LA with a tight table. Dominate teaches you how to change up as the table requires and focuses on playing the player, making the right reads and knowing when to bluff. It's a well written book and the lessons can be modified to work in tournament play as well as nl cash games. Hope this helps [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

This book really made me laugh, some of the stories were really good but besides that most of the advice about hands is awful.

The obvious stuff about image and what not is good, but the rest of the book is terrible.

How so?
I think you missed the point of this book if you didn't get anything out of it.
You should probably give it another read, there's a ton of great information in there.

OK Id like to see someone (who knew what they were taking about at least), write a more advanced book titled "How to Dominate $10 and $20 No Limit Hold'em". Id read it for sure!

spino1i,thanks for posting. I feel your need for opportunity in the bigger games.

I too would like to see someone write a more advanced book on how to dominate 10-20. That's a game at a level I like to play.

As you know, the field is leveled quite a bit compared to 1-2 games. There aren't as many soft spots. Still, the strategies are a lot alike, after taking into account the more experienced players. Much of it is about bluffing and catching bluffs.

Nevertheless, I've found an occasional good 10-20 game - a game with at least one soft spot - and, more frequently, a good 5-10 no limit game.

On the other hand, 1-2 and 2-5 games almost always represent a variety of players and they're fun to mix play with.
