No idea if this was Flash's doing, but can someone euthanize him already anyway. Last time I checked his ERA was in the mid 7s!

Ruiz is a god

On this same topic...I got into an argument over IRC about Ruiz, and the job he's done this season. I've been under the impression that Ruiz has been fantastic behind the plate this season, especially at throwing out runners. The stats, apparently, say otherwise. He's been run on more often than all but a few NL catchers, and his CS% is 4th or 5th worst in baseball.

Is it just in my head that Ruiz has been great behind the plate? Is there another explanation for his low CS% (Catching for our weaker pitchers at holding on runners?) Has his arm just recently come around?

Whatever the stats say doesn't matter though, I'm still thrilled with the job Ruiz has done this season

Ruiz really struggled early. Teams were running on him a lot the first few weeks. Lately he's done a better job.

How long will this Phillies streak last until they start slumping again, this season feels like every other season the past 10 years am I wrong? Stay in the hunt and then blow it... Can they sweep for crying out loud?

I am proud of their work against the Brewers especially this guy in the bullpen who they are tearing apart.

great job Eaton tonight. props

Greg Dobbs has been a pleasant surprise this season, filling in nicely at 1st with Howard on the DL

i didnt really like tonights lineup though. this is the first game ive watched since Howard went on the DL since ive been away, but was this the first night of it?

with Rowand hitting the way he is, i want him in the middle. and he's obviously not fast enough for leadoff compared to jroll and shane. rollins and victorino at 1-2 is a powerful top of the lineup IMO and if victorino starts to play a little more consistently, they could be comparable to Pierre and Castillo on the Marlins 3? years ago.

Why not Victorino leading off and Rowand batting second that seems to better take advantage of their abilities?

They've played much better this last week and if they can get Howard healthy they will be dangerous. I think they just think it is important to spot the Mets a lead in the divison so they can then lose the wild card by a game.

I think the line-up they're using w/o Howard is fine. What order you put Rollins, Rowand and Victo at the top probably doesn't matter much.
