I'm going to throw Jurassic Park out there. It's a fun special effects "B" movie. It's not a great film with great characters.

I'll go a step further and say that Jurassic Park III is better than part 1. JP3 has no pretention about what it is. It's a B movie and it knows it, and it doesn't try to make itself seem legit by talking about chaos theory and love. It just goes balls out and does the flying dinos, the water dinos, etc. - everything that should have been crammed into the first one (yea I know, budget and technology wouldn't have allowed it).

Ebert agrees with me.

Movies that ARE overrated:

Walk the Line
Kill Bill
Every romantic comedy ever made

Mr. Phoenix did a good job as Johnny Cash, but the movie was a tad melodramatic and otherwise meh. Kill Bill is something that a bunch of my friends absolutely worshiped, but it seriously needed to be edited into just one film. It's just too full of itself.

As for romantic comedies, they're ALL the SAME. Boy - Girl - Obstacle - Happy Ending. Add a funny scene or two. I just saved you 90 minutes.



Movies that are NOT overrated:

Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption
The Big Lebowski

Shawshank may not be #2, but you're all a bunch of nitty McNitterstiens. Pulp Fiction is funny as hell and stands the test of multiple viewings. The Big Lebowski was underrated by the masses in the first place.
