http://www.firejoemorgan.com/ Read the Arod/Eckstein one. [/ QUOTE ] I love FJM.com. Eckstein career OPS 89+, Castillo 93. Not much of a difference between these two offensively. Castillo has more speed and is probably better defensively. He is also a year younger. |

The only way that he doesn't is if some other team comes in and seriously overpays for his services. Eckstein is probably just the fall back option and the Mets might just be covering their bases early in the FA signing period. |

but from what i read, his defense is 'good' despite his low rate at throwing people out?????? [/ QUOTE ] People don't run on Torrealba very often. There was a great BP article a while back talking about how much Torrealba pwns defensively. And another note, WHY DOES EVERYONE JUST POST SOMEONE'S ROAD STATS WHEN THEY PLAYED IN COLORADO? Dude, the home stats count, you can adjust for park effects... So someone can hit .400 in Colorado but .200 on the road, but that doesn't mean the .400 is worthless, in reality it just means he really hit like .350 at home, which should obv still count. (Insane simplification but if you're not retarded you get the point.) |

I guess we can stop the Yorvit talk. From MetsBlog:
[ QUOTE ] According to Ken Davidoff and David Lennon in Newsday, despite already agreeing to a three-year deal, talks between the Mets and free-agent C Yorvit Torrealba ‘collapsed’ on Saturday, meaning, ‘the free-agent catcher will not be headed to Shea.’ …do you hear that, listen, yep, it’s the sound of Paul Lo Duca laughing himself to death… …so, so bizarre…i mean, all that remained was for torrealba to take a physical…so, either a) he failed, or b) he changed his mind at the last minute… …well, back to the drawing board, omar… [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: *** Official NY Mets Our OFFSEASON Has Come Thread ***
Alright, whats our Catcher situation in the minors? Cause I have no problem starting Castro 110+ games next year and having a backup there.
Man, I know its results oriented, especially at how good Delgado was in year 1 as a Met, but having Mike Jacobs platooning with Castro would have been sweet. But then, unless Castro was like V. Martinez and could play 1st on off days then the Mets would be screwed at first. |
