These threads on the bigbig game have been probably the worst in NVG history, seriously they have all turned into poo flinging between the 2+2ers and the aba hatoz.
Its funny how people are jumping on Bobbys ass because he made ONE great play, this pot doesn't prove anything.
And all that pfunk said

"this pot doesn't prove anything."

well it does mean that aba is willing to lose $800K on a single hand of poker.

tpf,

Good point. Brian can't hang in this crowd because Bobby and Sammy know what he has based on his tells.

How do you keep a straight face with $800K of your money in the middle and 9 high?

Chill,

Sounds like the opposite of a tell to me.

Well in that vid he didn't do the hand/mouth when he was raising with nothing. Tell?

I dunno...why put your hand over your mouth people should be aware of the germs and variance of it...bad strategy. He was probably hallucinating and thought he had aces. Definitely the most logical conclusion.

BT gets tricky with 97s on HSP:

- I hadn't seen that before.

FYI that play is totally standard.

Is there nowhere in the world that has an NVG forum where people actually know something about poker talk gossip?

ISSCKM.

I didn't say it wasn't standard. All I said was I hadn't seen that HSP video before.

My take.

These young Internet hotshots who think they're the be all end all of poker just don't have the seasoning to really understand what the poker world is all about.

People like Baldwin have been around for a long, long time. They've seen lots of hotshots come and mostly go over the years, but nobody ever gives them any credit.

Some of these kids just think they know everything there is to know about poker. What with all of their two to five years of experience.

And some of them haven't hit the variance roller coaster on the downhill slope yet either. It can be a long, long ways down to the bottom of that hill.

I would love to see how some of these new superstars would have fared in the old days with Baldwin, Brunson, Moore, Reese, Zee, Zewin, Tomko, Chan, Ferris, Berman, Ungar, Strauss et al. There used to be some mighhty big no limit and pot limit games around. I used to watch these guys push around 200K pots back in the early 80s. What's 200k in 1983 worth in today's dollars?

I give these kids their props though. They made the money, and they've got the balls to step up and play in the biggest with the best. They'd just better be careful. What goes up, usually comes crashing back down.

For those who haven't read it, Bobby Baldwin's book, Winning Poker Secrets is a very good read. This guy's been through eveything these kids are facing now--and then some.

lol. Some of us internet kids have faced the old timers and guys like aba. aba's game is ten times better than theirs. So these opinions arent based on stuff you have read in a book but actually playing against the supposed best players in the world and then forming an opinion of their game.
