TT, i am 24 and got into radiohead with ok computer. i remember creep on the radio but i didn't have the album. i do have it on some old mtv comp from like 95 or whenever that was.

I think the difference is Radiohead fanatics in my age group (I'm as old as the band) got into Radiohead years before your generation did. They really are three different bands, the alt-rock band, the electronic band, and the alt-jazz inspired band that uses lots of synths. The 20-something audience came of age as Radiohead fanatics during Kid A - its the album they identify a signature moment in their life with.

TT,

wtf, i was just telling you that i got into them during their alt-rock phase. and you are like three times as old as me. so no, kid a is not the album that i identify more with a 'signature moment in my life,' i distinctly remember one of the first few times i was getting my dick wet i was listening to ok computer and trying to figure out the chord changes on 'no surprises' instead of shoot my wad. unfortunately that song has like three changes in it so it didn't take very long

Duder! I know that you got into them earlier, you made that obvious! I am talking generalizations about your generation, not you specifically.

When I was in college, Kid A was very eagerly awaited, because people already loved OK Computer. This encompasses a pretty considerable swath of "twentysomething." Most everybody in this thread in your stated demographic disagrees with you. I feel safe saying your generalization is wrong.

1 day later, this album sounds even better to me. It's not Kid A, but I still think it's really excellent.

also, from wiki: The song Nude, which was premiered live back in the OK Computer era, was finally released in a studio version. The same happened to Reckoner, which debuted in 2001. Its studio version, though, was drastically changed both in music and lyrics.

can't believe no-one has anything to say about the song 'all i need'. very haunting lyrics, and an understated moodiness that builds up to the best radiohead climax since how to disappear completely.

I paid 10 pounds sterling. Listened to this album on repeat for 6.65 hour today, according to pt. 4,091 hands. TY RADIOHEAD.

Yes. I've listened to the album maybe 10-15 times now. At first I liked "Reckoner" a little more than everything else, but it didn't stand out. Now it's dropped considerably, and "All I Need" is far and away my favorite (sucker for climaxes), with "Nude" probably #2.

To not release this in FLAC or some lossless format is stupid.

On a side note - I love Floyd, love alt rock and love electronica - how is it possible I've heard only a few songs by this band? I"m stumped how I let this happen - I'm going to have to listen to every album now and catch up - lol

I agree if there's a standout it's All I need. The whole album is pretty great, though. Funnily, the only track I don't like is Nude.

Album is pretty solid. Nude, Reckoner are my favorites. Does All I Need remind anyone else of Climbing up the Walls?
