Re: Assani vs the StatHeads: Evaluating NFL QBs
To put it another way, if opponents never tired and games were 100 quarters rather than 4, the patriots would never lose this year, whereas if games were only 5 minutes long the patriots would prolly only win 11 games. These are extreme examples, but the point still holds true, if you're the better team you'd prefer a high number of possessions unless your team is really bad at playing quickly. This is responding to Assanni's argument about VY not having the same stats because Ten. plays a ball control offense. while this is true, the titans are worse off for it and would rather play an explosive quick offense and don't do so because VY can't deliver in that situation (Note that it is prolly other factors than just VY)

[ QUOTE ]
Assani, Irt to causation correlation You have A and B A is correlated with B That doesn't mean A causes B or B causes A. That is correlation doesn't equal causation. Causation doesn't equal correlation would be A causes B A isn't correlated with B That is impossible since A causes B. [/ QUOTE ] there is approximately 0 chance assani reads this and understands it. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is simply not true. Regardlesss of who's the better team, you still want the game to end with as few posessions as possible once you have the lead, especially if the lead is more than 1 score. The Titans ball control style has more to do with the game situations than their confidence in Vince. |
