Re: Cha's A9s hand.

Don't 3bet preflop for at least these 2 reasons.
1) Villain's pfr is 8% and he's raising UTG. A9s is behind the top 8% and doesn't play well in a 3bet pot.
2) Villain's stack size makes this very awkward postflop

Re: Cha's 77 hand

Call most of the time, 3bet occasionally. Don't call just for set value, c/r good flops some of the time as well.

Re: Cha's AJs hand

I usually muck this until I know this guy can get out of line 3betting light, especially BvB. I'm basically never calling usually 4betting or folding based on flow and recent history.

1 - I should have mentioned, UTG folded every time I 3 bet. I was pretty sure either he'd fold or I'd know where I was if he continued.

2 - Yes it does. Thats why I posted the hand.

I should clarify, UTG folded here for those that missed it. UTG raised and he is NOT villain. Villain is SB.

Well doesn't that answer your question about what to do on the flop then? His range crushes your hand and I would bet he CRAI with most of his range here.

You're turning A9s into a bluff. Basically you're banking purely on FE preflop which with his stats, position, and the fact that you've been 3betting him before I don't think you have much of.

The awkward stack sizes argument in my mind kind of combines with other things. You're always going to be behind when called, but I don't think he has enough chips for you to get him off better hands often postflop.

I personally don't 3-bet suited As in position. I flat call, and get myself in lots of fun spots postflop.

But, I also agree with blackize's post.

You are aware that UTG folded as expected and SB is villain?

Also my raises had been getting respect from the other people left to act in this hand.

My bad I missed that. I still don't like 3betting in this hand though unless UTG is like 60/40.

Not sure how to handle the flop now, I usually just bet, but I don't know if that's right.

I think my 3 bet of UTG's minraise was correct. He had folded every time I had raised one of his minbets previously. He minbet a lot. The blinds respected my raises generally prior to this hand. I have A9s and I'm on the button.

I think this raise was fine and I want to talk about what to do on the flop given my reads now.
