I sincerely believe that Sharpton and Jackson rank very, very high on the list of reasons why this country still has deep problems with race relations. I wish this country would force them into irrelevance.

I agree, sir!

PS. Decided to tune it to a newschannel to watch the "coverage" of the Imus story. CNBC had 8 talking heads on at once, saying nothing of course. 1/2 the time 3 of them were trying to talk over each other. So funny.

1. This should simply be left to the free market. Al Sharpton made the asinine comment that "we need to start a conversation about what is allowed to be said on public airwaves." No we shouldn't.

However, there is nothing wrong with the market responding to what it perceives as idiocy or indecency. If advertisers want to pull out, that's their choice. If the parent company is not comfortable with the host's language, that's their choice. If listeners decide to turn him off, that's their choice. But the LAST thing that should happen is any government intervention.

2. I'd fire Imus because this is not nearly the first prejudiced thing he's said. Also, he looks like someone lit his face on fire and put it out with a golf cleat (okay, personal attack, unfair) and he's self-important to the point of inducing nausea (substantive attack).

3. Recall that I'm a Libertarian, and I'm a free thinker. Malkin has impressed on rare occasions (her recent condemnation of Coulter), and she's not nearly the fire-breathing, dangerously stupid Hannity, but she can be pretty appalling. And she is reliably self-righteous to an absurd degree.

I was going to write something similar, but probably wouldn't have expressed it as clearly.
