can someone fill me in on how karlson and sklanksy came up with their clever little hand rankings ?

and what does pokerstove use, i dont think it's the same

you should be able to find the original discussion of how it was done using a little googling (karlson has relatively few posts here).

if you want the short answer though, uh, he used a computer? the rankings are exactly what they say they are, and telling a computer to do such things isn't very difficult if you're a competent programmer. and duh, pokerstove doesn't use the same thing, because it's not being asked to do the same thing. pokerstove does equity of hand range v hand range. karlson/sklansky rankings are totally different.

YAYYY I have Intranets again. I've been spending the last week getting set up in a new place with Todd (Bigt) and James (evaworcim). It feels so awesome to be settled somewhere really nice, especially compared to what I've been living in for the last 4 years. We also have the eventual problem of being kicked out of the neighborhood since the average age in our townhouses is about 50 but we also have the perk of living across from one of the biggest college bars in Toronto. Life is good.
