Villain is 49/11/3 over 51 hands

I'm having some trouble handling these situations when villain leads into me in a heads-up pot after I raised preflop.

If I don't flop anything, I usually raise unless villain is someone I'm sure would lead with a set. I've had mixed success with that line so far.

Here, I would like to play a small or medium pot so I don't like raising the flop lead, but I'm not sure I like calling all the way with my hand either.

Any thoughts on this particular hand, and insight into these types of situations is welcome.

I think you should raise flop. Why would you raise if you miss, and only call when you hit your hand almost perfectly. What more do you want from KQ? If he is still with you on turn, c/c...

I suspect a lot of times the flop lead is a weak attempt at a steal, or a weak made hand. Sometimes it's a set but not that often and usually never from a weak player.

So, I raise with nothing because it takes the pot often enough (I hope) and it's easy to give up on the hand if I get played back at.

With a really strong hand I might call or raise depending on villain and how I think I can get the most chips in the pot by the river.

With a medium strength hand like KQ here - I think raising is bad and gives up value because usually only a hand you're behind gives you much action. I don't believe I'll be ahead much if all the chips go in. Maybe I'm giving 25NL donks too much credit?

That is a good argument. I actually like that line... except if you're ahead now you're giving villain free cards to catch up.

anyone else want to comment?

Ok, this hand is pissing me off, and got me thinking about how to deal with this guy. I know the right way to do it is obviously not how I played this hand.

The 29/22 bastard was reraising every time I open raised from the CO or BTN - probably half a dozen times so far. I never had a hand worth calling or reraising with, not that this hand was either.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

BB: $106.70
UTG: $127.35
MP: $129
CO: $42
Hero (BTN): $241.50
SB: $219.60

Pre-Flop: Q 8 dealt to Hero (BTN)
3 folds, Hero raises to $3.50, SB folds, BB raises to $11, Hero raises to $44, BB raises to $106.70 and is All-In, Hero folds

Results: $88.50 Pot
BB mucked and WON $88.50 (+$44.50 NET)

So what do you good players do when you get a good LAG who does this ? Tighten up and wait for premium hands? Call light and play lots of flops?

I tighten up, and I four bet wider out of position. I call wider in position, and fire a lot of 2.5x raises over their c-bets.

Edit: Q8o is a pretty standard fold on the button for me, regardless of who is in the blinds. Considering you have a lag in the blinds, it should be an easier fold.

Once you 4-bet, I'd probably call.
