I think people are seriously underestimating Cesc. Maybe I am doing the same to Ronaldo. I'll call that a draw. Any other players out there that fall into this group? I know RJ is going to say Messi, but I don't agree with that. [/ QUOTE ] well, in england at least, the only player that I can think of that would fall under this category is already at your club in Walcott. I don't know what the situation is like for players that are under 23 in any other part of the world, or at least, I can't think of anyone off hand right now |

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
lol this made me think of my pro evolution soccer team.
we are ridiculously stacked as i have added: kaka, podolski, heitenga, senderoos, and walcott to the roster. i wanted to have a formation with walcott on one wing and ronaldo on the other and i had about 100m pounds, and tried to buy ronaldo. manchester would not accept any amount of money for him. i even saved and offered ALL of my 100m for him and they wouldnt take it, even though the game listed his value at like 13m. I thought that was pretty lol. so i got pissed off and just bought fernando torres instead. my lineup is [censored] insane. 3-5-2 starting heitenga, marquez, puyol, iniesta(DM), walcott out on the wing, messi, kaka, ronaldinho all playing kind of pushed up attacking mids and fernando torres and eto'o at the front. its kind of beyond unfair. |

[/ QUOTE ] if his buyout clause is 200 million pounds and inter milan will pay for it, i dont know how you wouldnt put him up there with the most valuable contracts. [/ QUOTE ] i misspoke here, his buyout is 200 million DOLLARS.(~107 pounds) and inters offer was about 150 million DOLLARS. |

Yeah Jared, I would say that the worst thing a young, burgeoning star could do is move to a big team for tons of money. Yeah the players want the money and the fame, but it seems like its way to much pressure. [/ QUOTE ] QFT. I remember recently looking at a list of all the past ballon d'or winners and was struck by Michel Platini's career. He was with a small club (Nancy) for several seasons, only then moving on to what was probably the most successful French Club at that point (Saint Etienne), and a few years later finally moving on to the Old Lady. That's a stunningly slow progression, and it's really not out of line for a great many players in the 70s and 80s. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just looking at a few truly superb players from that era and ignoring the Beckenbauers who came up through Bayern... I dunno. There are obviously merits to both ways of doing it, but it seems obvious to me that when you screw up in bringing a young player to a big club it does far more harm than in leaving him with a lesser club for too long. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] There isn't any better out there than Rooney and Ronaldo. [/ QUOTE ] Messi? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think he's in the same level as Ronaldo, maybe better than Rooney, it depends, Rooney is having a poor year,he's much better than what he's showing right now. [/ QUOTE ] Ronaldo = good but judging by this thread very very very over hyped. |
