3 points = 17% in DVOA.

JOA,
If that's the case shouldn't indy be favored when including HFA?

When teams start a possession inside their own 20, the NFL average for scoring TDs on those possessions is 13%.

The Indianapolis Colts are a tad better, at 16%.

The Patriots? 78.5%

105,699 and counting

[/ QUOTE ]

Curious...how many possessions for each team started inside their own 20?

Don't know this week's numbers yet, but the Colts should not be 4.5 point dogs according to FO.

JoA,
Wouldn't that require the difference in DVOA to be almost 40% if 3 points = 17% DVOA?

If the relationship is linear, yes. The closest line to this is WAS vs NYJ. WAs is a 3.5 fav on the road, and they have an edge of over 40%.

It could also be that DVOA could "break" at the extremes. This is entirely possible.

The most interesting x-factor that no one is talking about is Indianapolis' capability of making second half adjustments.

[/ QUOTE ]

No one is talking about it because no one cares about half time adjustments because they don't really exist.

Manning and the offense will spend 100+ hours gameplanning this week. Like they're going to make huge, sweeping changes in 15 minutes during halftime? Like you can't make those adjustments on the fly when your defense is on the field?

[ QUOTE ]
The Patriots started blowing the Colts out in the AFC Championship game last year but the Colts made good adjustments and came back...

[/ QUOTE ]

Nice sample size.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Colts have been a 2nd half team for a while now, its not something that is limited to the AFC Championship game. Whether its related to halftime adjustments or not is debatable.

Its a small sample size which probably makes it a little less impressive: 11/14. Still though...
