Talking about religion in detail is not the same thing as endorsing it, and is in fact a legitimate topic for some social studies/history type classes. Not that I'm saying the immaculate conception is something that would make it into everyone's curriculum but thinking separation of church and state means not discussing religion at all is pretty silly.
